How to Say It: Words for Recognition

November 29, 2012

Shakespeare once wrote that “a rose by any other name smells as sweet.” And, while we certainly won’t disagree with the Bard about anything English Language-related, we’ve also found that certain words DO have more power and effectiveness when it comes to employee recognition and appreciation. For instance, would you like to receive an email that reads, “Lindsay, you did a great job with that customer yesterday.” Or rather, would you like an email that reads as, “Lindsay, you rose to the occasion and were an inspiring example of customer service yesterday.”

“You rose to the occasion and were an inspiring example of customer service yesterday.”

As you can see, how and what you write to your workers can have an effect on your message as well as on how they receive it.  We’ve assembled a page full of power words to be used in employee recognition and appreciation strategies – from email notes to employee reward letters and staff certificates.
Please check-out our website page of employee recognition words  that you can use for any situation involving appreciation and admiration for your workers’ actions and behaviors. Use these words and phrases when crafting an office-wide email, a personal note or card to one employee…even when preparing a certificate of merit for one of your trusted and most valued staffers. We hope you’ll use them liberally, and that you consider the many other ways Terryberry can help you keep your best and brightest motivated and engaged in the workplace!
