This Friday, January 26 is national Fun at Work Day. Typically either celebrated as a fixed holiday on January 28 or on the last Friday of January, this day is your official chance to allow your team a little time for some lighthearted amusement.

Unleash the “Secret Office Elves”
Take a creative spin on “secret Santa.” The morning of Fun at Work Day, pass around a note to each team member with the name of another team member written on it. Throughout the day, it is the “job” of each team member to do nice things for their assigned person without being noticed or caught. It can be as simple as leaving an icy, cold soda or a hot cup of cocoa on their desks. At the end of the day, you can either choose to have the secret office elves revealed, or keep them a mystery.
Breakfast Buffet
Have breakfast catered and set up a buffet where your team can enjoy a warm cinnamon bagel, a buttery croissant, or a bowl of fresh seasonal fruit.
Musical Mingle
Play some fun party tracks at random times throughout the day and designate them “musical mingle” interludes. Think September by Earth, Wind & Fire, or Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees. Give your team time to get up out of their chairs and mingle with coworkers or hit the break room for a little R&R. When the music stops, it's back to work.
Who Doesn't Love Chocolate?
Pass around a goodie-bowl filled with chocolates or other treats when that “afternoon slump” occurs.
The Stay-cation
On the day before Fun at Work Day decorate the office like an exotic destination. Think of Hawaiian or Tahitian themed décor. Plan fun activities, food, or drinks to match the theme.
